Amita Patnaik, M.D. FRCP
Dr. Amita Patnaik is the Associate Director of Clinical Research at START (South Texas Accelerated Research Therapeutics) in San Antonio, Texas. She is also a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Medical Oncology at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Patnaik is a graduate of the University of Toronto, in Toronto, Canada. She performed her residency in internal medicine and Medical Oncology fellowship training at the University of Toronto. This was followed by research fellowships in anticancer drug development at the Princess Margaret Hospital (University of Toronto) and at the Institute for Drug Development for 3 additional years. She spent 7 years on staff at the Institute for Drug Development where she was the Associate Director of Clinical Research and Associate Fellowship Program Director. Dr. Patnaik’s major interests are in the development of new anticancer agents and gastrointestinal tumors. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada; a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology; and a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Association for Cancer Research. She has served as a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology Scientific Program Committee. Dr. Patnaik is on the editorial board of the Journal of Clinical Oncology and is also a scientific reviewer for numerous other Oncology journals. Dr. Patnaik has authored numerous publications, including both peer reviewed publications and invited reviews/book chapters.
